Introducing Sprout: Your Personal AI Health Adviser

Today we are introducing Sprout, a personal AI health adviser built directly into Nourish. Sprout is not a generic chatbot that gives you the same answers it would give anyone else. It is an intelligent assistant that knows your nutrition history, understands your goals, and gets better at helping you the more you use it. We have been building towards this for a long time, and we believe it fundamentally changes what a nutrition app can do for you.

Why We Built Sprout

Nourish has always been about making nutrition tracking effortless. Snap a photo, get your data, understand what you are eating. But tracking is only half the picture. The other half — the part that actually changes outcomes — is knowing what to do with that data. What should I eat for dinner if I am low on iron today? How should I fuel my morning run? Why do I always feel sluggish after lunch?

These are the questions that a food diary cannot answer on its own. You need context, knowledge, and personalisation. You need someone (or something) that can look at your data and give you specific, actionable guidance. That is exactly what Sprout does.

What Makes Sprout Different

The internet is full of AI chatbots that can answer general nutrition questions. Ask any of them what to eat before a workout and you will get a reasonable, generic answer. But generic advice has a fundamental limitation: it does not know you. It does not know that you are vegetarian, that you dislike eggs, that you tend to undereat protein, or that you have a training session at 7am tomorrow.

Sprout knows all of this. It has access to your complete Nourish profile — your logged meals, your nutrient trends, your dietary preferences, your goals, and your daily patterns. When you ask Sprout a question, it does not give you a textbook answer. It gives you an answer that is specifically tailored to your situation, right now, based on real data.

Ask Sprout what to have for dinner and it will consider what you have already eaten today, identify any nutrient gaps, account for your preferences and restrictions, and suggest a meal that fills those gaps while being something you would actually want to eat. That level of personalisation is simply not possible with a generic AI tool.

Key Capabilities

Sprout is designed to help across the full spectrum of daily nutrition decisions.

  • Personalised meal recommendations. Tell Sprout what you are in the mood for, or simply ask what you should eat, and it will suggest meals based on your nutritional needs for the day. It considers what you have already logged, what nutrients you are missing, and what foods you enjoy.
  • Energy optimisation. Sprout can analyse your eating patterns alongside your energy levels and identify connections you might not notice yourself. It might observe that you consistently feel low energy on days when your breakfast is carbohydrate-heavy but low in protein, and suggest adjustments to test.
  • Exercise nutrition planning. If you log your workouts or tell Sprout about your training schedule, it will recommend pre- and post-workout meals tailored to the type and intensity of your session. No more guessing whether you ate the right thing before the gym.
  • Nutrient gap analysis. Sprout monitors your micronutrient intake over time and proactively alerts you to emerging patterns. If your iron has been trending low for the past two weeks, Sprout will flag it and suggest specific foods to help bring it back up.
  • Cooking guidance. Not sure how to prepare something? Sprout can walk you through simple recipes and suggest ways to modify meals you already enjoy to improve their nutritional profile.

How Sprout Learns and Improves

Sprout is not a static tool. It learns from every interaction you have with it. When you follow a recommendation and rate how it went, Sprout adjusts its understanding of your preferences. When you consistently ignore certain suggestions, it learns to stop making them. Over time, Sprout builds an increasingly accurate model of what works for you — your taste preferences, your schedule, your cooking ability, and your nutritional priorities.

In the first week, Sprout's suggestions will be good. After a month, they will feel like they were written by someone who genuinely knows your eating habits. After three months, you will wonder how you managed without it.

What Talking to Sprout Looks Like

Sprout lives in a simple chat interface within the Nourish app. Conversations are natural and straightforward. Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you might ask.

"I have a 5K run at 8am tomorrow. What should I eat tonight and in the morning?" — Sprout will plan both meals based on your preferences, ensuring adequate carbohydrate loading without anything that might cause stomach issues during the run.

"I have been feeling tired this week. Is there anything in my diet that could be causing it?" — Sprout will review your recent food logs, check for nutrient deficiencies, assess your hydration patterns, and offer specific hypotheses with actionable next steps.

"What should I make for dinner? I have chicken, broccoli, and rice in the fridge." — Sprout will suggest a meal using those ingredients that complements what you have already eaten today, filling any remaining nutrient gaps.

Your Data Stays Private

We know that inviting an AI to analyse your eating habits requires trust, and we take that responsibility seriously. Sprout operates entirely within Nourish's secure infrastructure. Your nutrition data, health information, and conversations with Sprout are never shared with third parties. They are never used to train external AI models. They are never sold to advertisers. Your data belongs to you, full stop.

You can delete your conversation history with Sprout at any time, and you have full control over what data Sprout can access through your privacy settings. We built Sprout to be helpful, not intrusive, and privacy is a non-negotiable part of that commitment.

How to Get Started

Sprout is available now to all Nourish users. Open the app, tap the Sprout icon in the bottom navigation bar, and start a conversation. There is no setup required — if you have been logging meals with Nourish, Sprout already has the context it needs to start helping you immediately. If you are new to Nourish, Sprout will ask you a few questions about your goals and preferences to get started.

For the best experience, we recommend logging your meals consistently for at least a week before diving deep into Sprout's recommendations. The more data Sprout has, the more personalised and accurate its guidance becomes.

What Comes Next

Today's launch is just the beginning. In the coming months, we will be adding new capabilities to Sprout, including meal planning for the week ahead, grocery list generation based on your nutritional needs, integration with popular fitness trackers for even smarter exercise nutrition advice, and the ability to share Sprout-generated meal plans with friends and family on your Nourish feed.

Sprout represents our vision for what personalised nutrition guidance should look like: intelligent, private, genuinely helpful, and always improving. We cannot wait to see how it helps you eat better.
